It's your best friend 'reading' again

Slide 23 - Slide

Strategies:
  • Skimming (title; picture(s); words in bold or italics; author, etc.);
  • text: What kind of text is it? (gap-text, article, letter to the editor, newspaper article, how many questions?, etc.)
  • Scanning the text, reading the paragraphs (ELZA - reading)
  • reading questions ('open'/'closed' question, true/false, multiple choice, ty to answer the questions first by yourself, then compare the given ones)
  • Do you need to know all the difficult words?
  • Do you need to read the whole text intensively?

Slide 24 - Slide

Let's go!
  • First text. What kind of text is it? Skim it first.
  • Look at the question(s). What kind of question is this? Start with the first. Do you know the answer?
  • Multiple Choice: look for opposites and synonyms in the answers. Choose only one. (unless the assignment is different)
  • Difficult words you do not know?
