At the end of the lesson you will understand the structure of the English Literature exam and strategies for each section.
Overview of Exam Sections
There are three sections: Section A (Inspector Calls), Section B (Power and Conflict poetry), and Section C (Unseen poetry).
Section A: Inspector Calls
Answer one essay question from two options. Focus is on knowledge and analysis of the play 'An Inspector Calls'.
What is SPAG?
SPAG means Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. 4 marks out of 34 in Section A are for SPAG.
Section B: Power and Conflict Poetry
Answer a comparative question about two poems: one named (provided), and one you choose from the set poems.

What Does Comparative Mean?
Section C: Unseen Poetry
Two parts: analysis of one unseen poem (24 marks) and comparison with another unseen poem (8 marks).

You will read and write about new poems you haven’t seen before. Show your understanding and compare themes.

Spend about 15 minutes.
