Essay structure

1. opening: your statement --> question on the test or slightly change it to fit. Quickly sum up why/how (overiew of essay)

2. body paragraphs: 2/3 paragraphs each going into detail. Each paragraph has own topic. Use examples to support your point.

3. conclusion: sum up your points and final statement

How can you create structure?

1. clear division in "type" paragraph

2. use topic sentences at the beginning of each paragraph

3. use appropriate linking words

4.  sum up at the start and beginning, so reader knows what to expect

(5. plan at the start of the test (what, how, where) )

(6. read exam question WELL, use all the information you have)

Assignment (homework)

Write/type a practice essay on the following topic:
"Reading books is important for your development"

You can either be in favour or against it, find your own examples and create a short essay (max. 500 words)

Use the rest of the class to start your draft, use the internet if needed. Deadline is next week  Wednesday
