What you need to know...

As well as being able to identify hair and scalp conditions, you must also be able to explain likely causes, treatment (referral if necessary), whether it is contagious, and the impact on the service.

We covered this all last week.

Consultation

At consultation we ask lots of questions to find out lots of things including:

• Client expectations

• How they manage their hair at home

• Factors

• Any possible contra indications

These questions, along with other things, help us to decide whether the service is achievable.

It is important to balance your clients expectations with salon resources and ability to achieve what they want

The support you can give is split into 3 categories:

• Analysis problems

• Technical support

• Product knowledge

Analysis problems

This covers anything which is going to

impact the service

Technical support

This can include:

• cutting angles

• Colour placement

• Styling ideas

• colour ideas

Anything which makes up the technical part of the service is covered by this type of support

Product knowledge

This includes:

• Mix ratios

• Developer levels

• Grey coverage

• Best product to use

• Development time

• Longevity (how long it lasts)

Anything which helps create the look/colour/perm comes under this category
