Zero and first conditional

Zero conditionals if+ present simple - fact

If I am thirsty, I drink water 

First conditional : if + present simple, will + infinitive= result is likely to be in the future> If it is sunny tomorrow, I'll go for a bike ride 

Second and third conditional

Second conditional: If + past simple, would/could +infinitive

possible but unlikely events in the future= I would contact the police, If someone stole my phone

Third conditional: if + past perfect, would have+ past participle

This describes a hypothetical past action

The couple who brought me up were not my real parents

When the relative pronoun is the object, rather than the subject, of the relative clause, it is often left out.
