Basisregel: enkelvoud +s

Let op! In het Engels gebrruik je nooit apostrophe s ('s) bij de meervoudsvorm!!   Dus: 1 car = 2 cars en niet: 2 car's.

s-klank

Woorden die op een s-klank eindigen  krijgen +es

box - boxes

bush - bushes

bus - buses

watch - watches

woorden op -o

Ook woorden die op een -o eindigen, krijgen meestal +es

hero - heroes

tomato - tomatoes

potato - potatoes

Let op: sommige woorden die eindigen op een o krijgen wel -s:

radio - radios

piano - pianos

video - videos

stereo -stereos

woorden op -y

Woorden die op een medeklinker gevolgd door -y eindigen, krijgen -ies

baby - babies

hobby - hobbies

let op: toy - toys

woorden op -f(e)

Woorden die op -f of -fe eindigen, krijgen -ves

thief - thieves

wolf - wolves

wife - wives

maar: roof - roofs

Let op:  woorden die op -ff eindigen krijgen -s

handcuff -   handcuffs

cliff - cliffs

alleen plural

Woorden die alleen in het meervoud worden gebruikt:

Sommige woorden hebben een onregelmatig meervoud. Leer ze uit je hoofd!
