Types of Character
  • Flat Character - a character who reveals only one, maybe two, personality traits in a story or novel, and the trait(s) do not change.

  • Round Character - a well developed character who demonstrates varied and sometimes contradictory traits.

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Who or what is an "antagonist"?

Slide 7 - Open vraag

Antagonist
  • A Physical antagonist - a living, breathing character in the novel (unless he or she is a zombie) that is standing in the way of the protagonist achieving his or her goal.

  • An Abstract antagonist - some protagonists face off against illness, or grief, or the powers of a corrupt government. We call these kinds of antagonists abstract antagonists because they do not actually take physical form.
