• write a formal email in English to book accommodation 
• formulate four written questions in a formal email
• distinguish between what makes an email formal or informal and use the correct salutations, tone and structure in your own formal email
• work together in pairs to have a telephone conversation to inform a family member about your upcoming visit
• work together in pairs to ask and answer at least four questions (each) about holiday experiences

By the end of the week you will be able to.....

know what a pitch is as well as what content would be included in a pitch so you can start working on your end assignment

find useful information online to answer four research questions about your chosen country plus use these answers in your pitch.  

record a 1 minute pitch that convincingly promotes why your audience (me) should visit your chosen English speaking country

You are on holiday and eating dinner at a local restaurant that serves the traditional dish of your chosen country. What meal has the waiter/waitress served you?
If you don't know, look up what the traditional cuisine is.

So what is a pitch?  

A pitch is a brief, persuasive speech that you use to spark interest in a project, idea, or product – or in yourself.  As you will film yourself your pitch can also be a short vlog.  A vlog is a video-log.

A good pitch includes:

- Research.....you can talk about your topic

- Know Who You're Pitching to......me

- Includes a Hook....reel me in

- Get to the Point and Be Relevant.....only talk about what you need to talk about

- Convince me to travel there....this is memorable and the main part of your pitch (tag line/statement)

What to put in your pitch?

Now you are going to pretend you have been on holiday.   

- Create a 1-minute pitch ( short-vlog) about the country/city chosen.  

- Film yourself  (use your mobile phone) talking about your chosen country.  

- It must be in English 

- Introduce yourself

- Mention where you traveled to 

- Answer 4 questions in the "holiday research organiser" and talk about this in your pitch

- Convince me to travel there

- Have a clear start, middle and end

- Read the rubric before your start

Answer four (4) questions.

- You have a found a hotel online in your chosen city (from the list of English-speaking countries) and have written a (pretend) formal email to book accommodation at that hotel.  

- You have phoned uncle John to tell him about your upcoming visit and answer his questions

-You know the difference between a formal email an informal email.

- You have asked your partner at least four questions about their holiday experiences.

- You have answered some research questions about your chosen country.
