Book pitch requirements
Pitch must be between 3 and 5 minutes, including the following information
  • Basic information; author, title, genre (subgenre), publication date
  • Synopsis / summary
  • Characters: main character, keywords to describe, beliefs, challenges, goals, examples
  • Setting
  • Theme
  • Opinion on book/takeaway/recommendation/did it meet expectations

Book pitch rules
  • You have to read a fragment of your book out loud. (40 sec of speaking time)
  • You are not allowed to have notes. 10 key words only. The book pitch must be from the top of your head. No powerpoint.
  • You have to bring your book.
  • You will also be graded on your speaking abilities. (i.e. fluency, pronunciation & use of English)
