Past simple
Nothing much happens. What happened in the past stays in the past. It is over.
R: Ex: I worked yesterday.
IR: Ex. She spent all my money last night.

- Usually with words that indicate the past.
Yesterday, two minutes ago, ten years ago.

What happened in the past is still noticeable right now.
R: Ex: I have worked very hard (and now I have a high mark on my test)
IR: Ex. She has spent all her money on clothes.

Something that happened for a while in the past. A longer period in the past.
