Signaalwoorden
  • Linking words, such as 'therefore', 'however', 'in conclusion' 
  • Indicate connections between different parts of the text 
  • This way you can already see what is going to be discussed in the following sentence.
  • Possibilities: lists, contradictions, sequences, comparisons, cause/consequence, etc. 
  • Knowing the meaning of these words, as well as knowing what these words indicate, will help you conclude correctly.

  • CITO loves these words
  • They often 'hide' the answers in the sentences starting with a linking word. 
  • This is especially the case in the havo exams. 

  • To illustrate this, let's look at the following example of an open question.
