Stative verbs: know, understand, believe, like, love, hate, want, need, remember, forget, own, belong, seem, mean, prefer, agree

express state, feeling, opinion, thought, possession, or perception rather than an action. They are usually not used in the Present Continuous.

Examples:

• I understand you. ✅
  I am understanding you. ❌

• She likes chocolate. ✅
  She is liking chocolate. ❌

• I know the answer. ✅

• He believes you. ✅

• This bag belongs to me. ✅

Challenge: Some verbs can be stative or action verbs depending on the meaning:

• I think you are right. → opinion → Present Simple

• I am thinking about the problem. → mental activity happening now → Present Continuous
