Comparisons; comparative and superlative
If the word has:..... one syllable
                                .....two syllables ending at -y, -le, -ow, of -er (with the emphasis on the first                                                                                                                                             syllable)
                                   then you use -er and -est

        large- larger- the largest
        clever- cleverer- the cleverest
        heavy - heavier - heaviest

If the word has two or more syllables you use:     -more and -the most

comfortable - more comfortable - the most comfortable

exeptions: 
good- better- the best
bad/ill- worse- the worst
much/many- more- the most
little - less - least
