Tag questions

Aan het einde van de les weet ik wat tag questions zijn en hoe ik deze moet gebruiken door hiermee te oefenen in verschillende opdrachten.

Tags

Hoe maak je een tag? 

De regel:  

• Na een bevestigende zin (+) is de tag ontkennend (-) 
• Na een ontkennende zin (-) is de tag bevestigend (+)
• herhaal in de tag het werkwoord en het onderwerp

You are at school together,	aren't you ?
He isn't busy	is he ?

Tag questions

She is a nice girl,	isn't she ?
You have done this before,	haven't you ?
You aren't listening,	are you ?
I am an English teacher,	aren't I ?
He can't run very fast,	can he ?

Tag questions

Bij de werkwoorden am / is / are / can herhaal je het werkwoord.

I can come to the party, can't I?

Let op! Bij zinnen met I am gebruik je aren't I in the question tag.

I’m a good hockey player, aren’t I? 

I’m not a good hockey player, am I?

Bij andere werkwoorden gebruik je een vorm van 'do'.

She studies very hard every night, doesn’t she?

Tag questions

• Je mag onderstaande woordjes herhalen in de tag question:
  
• Vormen van "to be" (am, are, is, was, were).
  
• Let op: I am happy, aren't I?
  
• Hulpwerkwoorden (can, could, should, would, will, might).
  
• Have / has 
• Bij andere werkwoorden gebruik je een vorm van 'do'.

Voorbeelden

• I should go to bed early, shouldn't I?
• I will help you today, won't I?
• I could live on Mars, couldn't I?
• She has won an olympic gold medal, hasn't she?
• You don't like bad weather, do you?

be - zijn

can - kunnen               could - konden         

may - kunnen              might - kunnen         

must - moeten              should - zou moeten

will - zullen              would - zouden 

Deze werkwoorden worden altijd gevolgd door een ander werkwoord.  

Andere werkwoorden

Andere werkwoorden worden vervangen met:

do, don't, does, doesn't, did, didn't

• Your sister lives in Spain, doesn't she?
• Joni and Sal already knew him, didn't they?
• You usually take the bus, don't you?

Let op!

De hoofdzin en tag question staan altijd in dezelfde tijd.

Dinosaurs lived in Europe, didn't they?

Gebruik in de tag question altijd een persoonlijk voornaamwoord, ook als het onderwerp een zelfstandig naamwoord is.

Your sister lives in Bristol, doesn’t she?
