Adverb (=bijwoord)

About how something happens. 

• verbs:                              She sings beautifully. 
• adjectives:                    It was an extremely bad day. 
• adverbs:                         It happened really quickly. 
• whole sentence:        Luckily, we didn't miss the train. 

Adverb

After linking verbs (koppelwerkwoorden) no adverb. 

be, get, become, turn, sound, smell, look, taste, feel. 

• I was sad. 
• It sounds awful. 

Adverb

Adverbs often end in –ly. 

• Careful – carefully
  , 
• Bad – badly, 
• Soft – softly.  

Watch the spelling! From adjective to adverb.

Adverbs

fast, well, late and wrong are adverbs that do not end in -ly. 

The card drove too fast. 

He answered the question wrong.
