Linking verbs -Aren't verbs that describe an action.

Action verbs would be - walk, throw, run

Linking verbs describe the state of something:

• Sally is 12 years old
• This pizza tastes disgusting
•  Your room looks a mess!
• smells / seems / appear / sounds - are also linking verbs

(This can also be the past tense of these verbs)
