READING TIME

FreshFoods, a new organic supermarket chain, was preparing to open its first store in Dubai. The HR manager, Aisha, had a big task: to build a strong team from scratch. She began with recruitment, placing ads online and attending job fairs to attract candidates who shared the brand’s passion for health and sustainability.

Once enough applications were received, Aisha moved to the selection stage. She shortlisted resumes, held interviews, and even included a taste-test for chef applicants ! After careful interviews, successful candidates were placed into roles—cashiers, stock managers, and fresh produce specialists—based on their strengths and interests. But Aisha knew that hiring was just the beginning. She organized a training and development program to teach the team about customer service, product knowledge, and safety standards .After a month of operations, she launched a performance appraisal to review how the team was doing. Feedback was shared, and a few staff members even received bonuses for great customer reviews. One of the young employees, Rafiq, showed great promise. Aisha discussed his future and guided him through a promotion and career planning session, mapping out how he could grow into a store supervisor role. Finally, she reviewed the team's compensation structure, making sure everyone was paid fairly and motivated with benefits like health insurance and staff discounts.

Thanks to a well-planned staffing process, FreshFoods didn’t just open its doors—it opened strong.
