Yellow flame = interim (pause) flame, used during breaks
Colourless (silent) flame is used to heat small amounts
(Blue) Rustling flame is used to heat large amounts

    air control closed, yellow, no noise, used  
    when not heating anything

2 and 3.    silent flame
    air control slightly open, no noise, pale blue,

     in the middle, used to burn something
