a.m. --> morning
p.m. --> afternoon
15 minutes = a quarter of an hour
all minutes until 30 = past the hour (6:15 --> a quarter past six)
all minutes after 30 = to the next hour (8:50 --> ten to nine)
30 minutes = half past the hour (8:30 --> half past eight)
full hour = hour o'clock (3:00 = three o'clock)
