Past simple

The teacher checked the letters before the holiday.

He gave her a necklace for christmas 5 years ago. 

Remember the present simple?

Present simple: facts, habits and things we do regularly

What if your tennis lesson was last week? 

Past simple 

A situation which started and ended in the past 

Signal words: Last month/year, in the year (somewhere in the past), yesterday ect

How

Regular verb	Add -ed to the infinitive
Irregular verb	Study the verb list
Verb ends in E	Add -d to the infinitive
Verb ends in y (except for 'play')	Remove y and add -ied
Verb ends in C	Add -ked

What is an irregular verb? 

Be, bite, begin,  buy, choose, feel, fly, grow, keep, read, see, set, sleep, swim, throw, weep

Using the new information, make a short past tense about your last holiday.
