Who remembers what we use the present perfect for?

Find the difference

He has run 20 km                               He ran 20 km yesterday.

actions that started and finished at a specific time in the past.

actions that happened a really short time ago.

Find the difference

She has worked at the bank for 5 years.    She worked at the bank for 5 years.                                     

We can see that she started working at the bank in 1997 and finished in 2002. She no longer works there.

We can see that she started working at the bank 5 years ago and is still working there.

Als iets uit het verleden nu nog steeds merkbaar is.

Als iets in het verleden is gebeurd, maar niet belangrijk is wanneer.
