Goal 

• To remember why we use tag questions
• How they are formed (rules with certain verbs) 
• To apply that knowledge to answer questions 
• For everyone to make 3 tag question exercises 

Can you remember why we use tag questions?

If the main sentence is negative then the "Tag questions" is .....?

Tag questions 

Als de hoofdzin geen ontkenning heeft, is "de tag question" een ontkenning

Jenny has got brown eyes, hasn't she?   ( + , -?)

En ook andersom

John hasn't got brown eyes, has he?  ( - , +?)

Which verbs to we use again if they are in the main sentence?

We use these verbs again

A form of 'to be' (am, is, are): Toby is your neighbour, isn't he?  

Let op: I am a good student, aren't I? (The irregular form of to be with subject 'I')

Sentences with "has/ have got", use 'has/have' in the tag question

Everything else........

....Uses a form of "do" that matches the subject

Sarah lives in Spain, doesn't she? 

They play football on Fridays, don't they?  

They don't play football on Fridays, do they? 

What happens to the name in the tag question? 

Thomas looks like his brother, doesn't he? 

Doris is your sister, isn't she?

Simon and Jack are cousins, aren't they?

The weather is terrible today, isn't it?

We play football every Saturday, don't we?

Sally doesn't play violin, ............?
