    a Als zelfstandig naamwoord:   
    • Swimming is fun.

    b Na voorzetsels about, in, off, at, of, without, by, before, after, while etc.:
    •    He left without paying

    c Na bepaalde uitdrukkingen it's no use, it's no good, can't help, can’t stand
    •    It's no use arguing

    d Na de werkwoorden to start, to begin, to continue, to stop.
    •     I continue going to the seaside.

    d Na de werkwoorden die een mening uitdrukken: to hate, to like, to love, to enjoy. 
        I hate going to the seaside.

    Wanneer gebruik je to-infinitive?
    a. na ww die een gevoel/gedachte uitdrukken: to hope, to want, to expect, to choose, to hesitate
    • I hope to get rich one day.

    b. na ww die iets zeggen/uitdrukken zoals: to agree, to promise, to demand, to forbid, to refuse
    She refuses to meet him next month.

    c. in combi met: would love, would hate, would like.
    •  I would love to meet him next month.

    c.Ww altijd gevolgd door infinitive: to learn, to manage, to fail, to tend.  
    •  He has to learn how to write capital letters.

    Het werkwoord 'remember'

    Na remember een gerund , verwijs je naar het verleden.
    Na remember een infinitive, dan verwijs je naar de toekomst.

    • Remember fishing on the lake, those were good times!
    • Remember to walk the dog when you get home.






      I clearly remember telling him this. 
    Ik herinner me nog duidelijk dat ik hem dit heb verteld.
     I must remember to phone him. 
    Ik moet niet vergeten hem nog bellen.
