M  is for MAIN IDEA

- The main idea or Topic sentence

- the topic sentence is the first sentence of a paragraph that tells the reader exactly what the subject of the paragraph will be.

What are M.E.A.L. paragraphs?

The idea is that every paragraph is a meal (like food)

A well prepared "meal" is filling and likewise a well prepared MEAL paragraph should be substantial or "filling". 

MEAL paragraphs are the body paragraphs of an article or essay they are not an introduction or conclusion.

E ....  is for EVIDENCE

- Support your point with evidence -> examples.                In the next one or two sentences, give evidence to expand upon and support the point you made. Evidence can include facts, statistics, research findings, quotes from a credible authority or a primary text

A is for ANALYSIS

Analyse or Explain HOW the evidence you provided proves the main idea

This is where you show your understanding by explaining in more detail how and why your evidence supports your point. Your explanation should interpret the evidence for the reader.

L.... is for LINK

The last sentence should reinforce your original point or link your writing to the next paragraph. The link sentence can provide a transition to the next topic or paragraph
