1) Essay style:
  • Neutral -> 3rd person/ no "I", "we"
  • Statement in the introduction (agree or disagree, not a question)
  • Link paragraphs (linking words)
  • Give one argument/paragraph & explain, give an example.

2) Write longer sentences/don't repeat/use synonyms/look up words.

May =
  • Possibility (He may come later on, I'm not sure though.)
  • Permission (May I? May I help you with that?)
  • Contingency/future possibility (You may even become a doctor if you study hard.)
  • Wish/prayer (May the Lord be with us.)

Might = 
  • V.t. (Yesterday he told me he might join the army.)
  • Reported speech (He said that he might join us later.)
  • Possibility - more uncertainty than "may"  (He might be there.)
  • Permission - more polite than "may" (Might I be excused?)
  • Suggestion (You might want to phone them before you drop by.)
  • Criticism (You might have told be that before!)
