Gebruik je als iets altijd, nooit of regelmatig gebeurt, of als iets een feit is. Je gebruikt het ook om aan te geven dat iets volgens een rooster/schema gaat.

Signaalwoorden: never, ever, always, often, every day, every week etc.

- hele werkwoord zonder TO (I work, you work etcetera)
- Bij SHe/He/It komt er een - S achter (he works, she works etc)
- Als je de present simple vragend/ontkennend maakt, heb je een vorm van TO DO nodig: I don't know, does she live in Groningen?
