Present continuous
We praten over de ‘present continuous’ als we het hebben over iets waar je momenteel (nog) mee bezig bent. Het is dus al begonnen en nog niet afgelopen.

Hoe vorm je dan de present continuous?
Is/are/am + ww + ing

Hoe ziet het er dan uit in een zin:
I am reading a book right now.
She is dancing for hours now.
My classmates and I are working on a project for days.

Negatief? Je voegt dan ‘not’ toe. Isn’t – aren’t – am not
I am not showering, I think your brother is.

Present simple 
De present simple (tegenwoordige tijd) gebruik je bij feiten, gewoontes en ‘vaste’ rituelen. De present continuous gebruik je als je over iets praat dat momenteel nog bezig is of een afspraak in de nabije toekomst.
Present simple = ww (+ s bij shit-rule)
Signaalwoorden: "always, never, every day etc"

Om te zeggen dat iets in het verleden gebeurde en voorbij is.
For example - She talked to her friend yesterday.

Verschil:
De past continuous was al bezig en de past simple onderbreekt datgene. Een korte plotselinge gebeurtenis.

I was washing my hair when the doorbell rang.
He was running when his ankle broke.
You were cooking when the chicken fell.

Past simple vs present perfect
Bij de past simple is het al afgelopen in het verleden.
Signaalwoorden: last year, yesterday, in 1995 etc.

Hoe vorm je de past simple?
Ww + ed / 2de rijtje onr. ww / uitzonderingen (study > studied / stop > stopped)
