COMPARATIVE	SUPERLATIVE
adj + ER + than eg. smart er than	the adj + EST eg. the smartest

Exception 1

Short words with CVC (= Consonant Vowel Consonant) 

double the consonant + ER/EST

eg. wet - wetter - wettest

Exception 2

Consonant+ y   

=> y becomes i + ER/EST

eg. easy - easier - easiest

Exception 3

Words with 3 or more syllables

=> more / most

eg. beautiful - more beautiful - the most beautiful
