A fraction represents a part of a whole. It has a numerator (top number) and a denominator (bottom number).,

Identifying Fractions

Fractions can be identified visually. For example, 1/4 means 1 part out of 4 equal parts.

Comparing Fractions

Fractions with the same denominator can be compared by looking at the numerators. Larger numerator means a larger fraction.

To add fractions with like denominators, add the numerators and keep the same denominator.
