Last year you watched a TedTalk about what makes people happy. 'Lessons from the longest study on happiness'. 

Can you remember what the main message of this Tedtalk was?

What does to hold a grudge means?

Do you know any other collocation with the word grudge?

Questions

1. "Guppies are angry with other guppies who don't pull their weight".   So what's the problem here?

2. Why has revenge become an important emotion through evolution? (two reasons)

3. Why is forgiveness so hard to offer if the consequences are so clearly beneficial?

Pull their weight:  If you pull your weight, you work as hard as everyone else who is involved in the same task or activity. 

Take revenge on people who endanger the group (evolutionary, social function) and prevent others to exploit you/take advantage of you.

You need to let go of very powerful negative emotions or you need to reconsile with someone who - you think- doesn't deserve it.

1. Be an item: an item means that two people are involved in a romantic relationship.

2. Rob the cradle: have a romantic relationship with someone who is much younger.

3. Significant other: refers to a person, such as a spouse, partner or lover, with whom you have a long-term relationship.

4.  Starter marriage: a short-lived first marriage that ends in divorce with no kids, no property and no regrets.

5.  Stormy relationship:  have a lot of arguments and disagreements.

6.  Think the sun rises and sets on someone: consider someone to be the most wonderful person in the world

4. run with the hare and hunt with the hounds: want to stay on friendly terms with both sides in a quarrel.

5.  on the same page / wavelength:  have the same understanding or think in a similar way.

6.  as thick as thieves: very close friends who are very loyal to each other.

7. two's company ... three's a crowd: two people who would prefer to be alone together rather than to have a third person with them.

1.  build bridges:  help people/groups to cooperate and understand each other better.

2. get a raw deal: be treated unfairly or badly

3.  kowtow to others: If you are very respectful and submissive, giving way to the wishes of a person or organisation in authority in order to please them, you kowtow to them. 

4. at loggerheads: disagree very strongly 

5. rub shoulders: have an opportunity to meet and talk to a person, especially someone wealthy, famous or distinguished.

6. strange bedfellows:  unusual or unlikely association of two or more people, companies or states

7. walking papers: If you are given your walking papers, your contract or a relationship has ended.

Good walls make good neighbours

This expression means that respecting one another's privacy helps create a good relationship between neighbours.
