Could- zou kunnen (iets minder waarschijnlijk), kon (vt) en ook beleefde vorm.   
It could become very cold tomorrow.

Can gebruik je alleen bij de present simple. 
I can help you.

Could gebruik je voor iets dat je mogelijk kan doen of in de verleden tijd.
I could do the split when I was 10.
