Root words
A change to a 'root' word means that its function can change as well as its meaning  

Root word "comfort" ---> from 'to comfort'
comfortable
comfortably 
uncomfortable

Ends in +ed or it is an irregular verb
past form of 'to be' ww+ing (was/were ww+ing)
Have/has + voltooid deelwoord
Example: Jeff has bought a new car.
