Past simple
 The past simple is used to talk about a completed action in a time before now.

The past simple is usually formed by adding d, ed, or ied to the base form of the verb.
I love her. I loved her.
I work hard. I worked hard.
I carry. I carried.

We often add -ed, -d or -ied to verbs to make the past simple.

I work. I worked.
I hope. I hoped.
I carry. I carried.
Irregular verbs

Some verb are irregular and they don’t add -ed to make the past simple.
The irregular verbs follow no rules; you should know them by heart.

I drink. I drank.
I forget. I forgot.
I have. I had.
