Reporting verbs
You can start your reported speech/thought with a variety of verbs:
I thought I...
She said that...
He asked ...

They can change the tone/purpose of the sentence.

'I really work hard for my exams,' she said.
'Come to my party,' he said to me.

'I'm not sure about this job.' 'Go on! Apply for it! You'd be good at it,' he said. 'OK, I will,' I replied.

Reported questions 
Direct question: "When are you going on holiday?"
Reported question: She asked when I was going on holiday.

Direct:"Are you related?"
Reported: He asked if/whether we were related.

Direct: "Who is that man?"
Reported: She asked who the man was.
What is the word order for the reported question?

Reported questions 
When we report a question, we change the word order and remove the question mark.
We also usually change the tense, just like with reported speech.
