Past simple vs past continuous
Make correct sentences. Choose between past simple and past continous. 


past simple: verb + ed / irregular verbs            
used when something finished in the past

past continuous: was/were + verb + ing           
used when something was going on for a longer period of time in the past, or to indicate that something was going on and was interrupted by something else (in combination with past simple)

Past perfect vs past perfect continuous
Make correct sentences. Choose between past perfect and past perfect continous. 


past perfect: had + past participle (verb + ed / irregular)            
used when something started and ended in the past, in combination with past simple to clarify that something had finished before something else started. 

past perfect continuous: had + been + verb + ing           
used when something started and ended in the past, but the emphasis is on the duration of the event

present perfect: have/has + past participle (verb + ed / irregular)
used when something started in the past and is still going on now, when something has just happened, or when something finished in the past but it is not said when
