  • Used to talk about finished activities
  • Focus on results of activities
Form subject + to have + past participle 
Example  Diden has done the dishes 
Result dishes are clean

Present Perfect Continuous 1/2
  • Used to talk about unfinished activities
  • Focus on the activity itself --> activity has led to some visible consequences or side effects
Form subject + to have + been + verb + ing 
Example Leonie has been doing the dishes
Consequence there is water on the floor

Present Perfect Continuous 2/2
Used to talk about repeated or continuous activities
Example  Krishan has been doing his homework since eight o'clock in the morning (= and he still hasn't finished it = continuous activity)
Example Denny has been getting this magazine every week for a year (= getting a magazine every week = repeated action)

  1. Think about your ideal place to live
  2. Fill in the chart --> write down notes, not entire sentences. 
    Example Environment: near sea/city
  3. You have 5 minutes, let's get to work!

  1. Form groups of three
  2. In your group, talk about the negative aspects of where you are living now
  3. Compare the negative aspects to the ideal features you have written down on your chart
    For example I think there are too many people living in Almere. I would like to live in the countryside, because there are less people 
  4. You have 10 minutes, let's get to work!

  1. Choose one of the persons in the pictures without telling the other members of the group which person you have chosen 
  2. You are going to talk about the same place as before, but from the point of view of the person you have chosen
    For example elderly person I think there are too many young people in Almere and it's noisy
  3. The others have to guess which of the people in the pictures is speaking 
  4. You have 10 minutes, let's get to work!
