The Present Perfect
Is used to refer to actions completed sometime before now, but with some present relevance, and so joins past and present.

I have seen the Queen ( at some indefinite time in my life)
* but not: I have seen the Queen yesterday
I saw the Queen yesterday

For and Since
Both these time expressions are frequently used with the Present Perfect to answer the question How Long.......?
  • We use for with a period of time:  an hour, two weeks
  • We use since with a point in time: May 2020

                   he/she/it + has + past participle (PP)

Negative: I/ we/you/ they + haven't + past participle (PP)
                   he/she/it + hasn't + past participle (PP)

Questions: Have + I/ we/you/ they + past participle (PP)
                   Has + he/she/it +  past participle (PP)
