Reflexive pronouns worden gebruikt om.....................een persoon / dier / ding

1. bezit aan te geven van
2. aan te geven hoe iets gebeurd met
3. terug te verwijzen naar
4. aan te geven dat iets in de toekomst gebeurd met

Reflexive pronouns

Reflexive pronouns worden gebruikt om te zeggen dat de persoon die de actie uitvoert, deze ook ondergaat.

Het onderwerp en het lijdend voorwerp zijn dezelfde persoon.

She made herself dinner.

I poured myself a drink.

We drove ourselves home.

Each other

each other wordt gebruikt om een wederzijdse relatie uit te drukken. 

Each other  verwijst naar het onderwerp van de zin.

They are talking to each other.

We will always love each other.

Sarah and Marvin always help each other.

Uitzonderingen

Reflexive pronouns gebruik je niet na werkwoorden als wash, dress en shave, tenzij je nadruk wilt leggen op wie het doet. 

(Deze werkwoorden gaan over acties die mensen meestal voor zichzelf doen)

Reciprocal pronouns gebruik je niet na werkwoorden als hug, marry en kiss.

(Deze werkwoorden geven al aan dat de handeling van beide kanten komt.
